Yesterday the Norwegian Oscar committee announced the names of the three candidates set to represent Norway at the Oscar nominations for Best Foreign Language Film. Those are Roar Uthaug’s The Wave (backed by Nordisk Film & TV Fond), Anne Sewitsky’s Homesick and Henrik Martin Dahlsbakke’s debut feature Returning Home.

Successfully launched at the last Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund, the disaster film The Wave (Bølgen) produced by Fantefilm is opening nationwide today via Nordisk Film before heading off to Toronto.

Sewitsky’s family drama Homesick (De nærmeste) produced by Maipo Film had its world premiere at Sundance and will next screen in Toronto. It opened in Norwegian cinemas last March.

Written, directed and produced by Dahlsbakken for FilmBros, the drama Returning Home (Å vende tilbake) opened domestically in February.

The final Norwegian Oscar candidate in the Foreign Language Film entry will be announced on September 2, 2015.
