Boosted by excellent ratings and world attention for series such as The Third Eye and Acquitted, TV2 Norway has announced on Monday the setting up of a separate Drama department and the official appointment of Christopher Haug as Head of Drama.

For Haug who was recruited in 2010 by Egmont-owned TV2 to oversee its increased focus on drama, it’s ‘business as usual’, but TV2’s latest announcement is ‘a clear signal that the goal is to expand’. “TV drama with strong content is the future. I am very happy for TV 2’s commitment and that they have faith in me,” he added.

Upcoming TV2 drama series set to air in the autumn include the high profile European co-production Occupied (10x45’) produced by Yellow Bird Norge and Season 4 of the dramedy Dag (10x23’) produced by Kameratene & Viafilm. Two titles in production have been commissioned to Rubicon TV.  Season 2 of the thriller The Third Eye (10x43’) co-written by Axel Hellstenius, Gunnar Vikene and O.M. Araldsen is handled by Endemol Shine International, while the character-driven Maniac (10x23’) co-written by Espen P.A. Lervaag, Håkon Bast Missige and Kjetil Indregard is sold by Nordic World.
