The 4th television series think tank Série Series unfolding in Fontainebleau, France from July 1-3, 2015, is going to launch the world premiere of Baltasar Kormákur’s crime series Trapped, alongside half a dozen new Nordic TV dramas.

Since its inception in 2012, the three-day event focusing on the creators and financiers of European TV dramas has created a tight connection with the Nordic region as explained by Série Series’ managing director Marie Barraco: “For our first event we had the world premiere of the Swedish sci-fi series Real Humans (Äkta människor) and since then producer Stefan Baron, writer/producer Lars Lundström and director Harald Hamrell are sitting on our Steering Committee.“

This year the event is opening with Humans, the English language remake of Real Humans, currently airing on UK broadcaster Channel 4. The series will be used as a case study presented by its key creators.

One of the pièces de résistance is also the world premiere of Trapped. Episode 1 of Season One will be introduced by Baltasar Kormákur, screenwriters Sigurjon Kjartansson and Clive Bradley, producer Magnus Vidar Sigurdsson and exec producer Klaus Zimmermann.

Barraco continues: “Trapped is a quintessential Nordic noir series, truthful to the genre and wonderfully conceptualised, but we have also chosen this year to widen our networking platform to other genres, such as comedy. We were therefore very pleased to be able to add to our list of case studies two delightful comedy shows from the North, Finland’s Northern Mishaps [produced by Bufo for Nelonen] and Sweden’s Torpederna [produced by FLX for TV4].”

Two other Swedish series making their debut include the 8X22’ show Boy Machine (FLX), about a boys’ band trying to make a comeback after a break of many years, and Runners by Robert Lillhonga, about a man, just released from prison, enrolling for the New York Marathon.

Norway will be represented by the WW2 series The Heavy Water War introduced by writer Mette M. Bølstad and NRK Commissioning editor Tone C. Rønning who will also discuss Per-Olav Sørensen’s upcoming series Nobel starring Aksel Hennie, Tuva Novotny and Anders Danielsen Lie.
