About the Nordic Council Film Prize 2015
The purpose of the Nordic Council Film Prize is to promote the range and diversity of films produced in all of the Nordic countries, enhance the Nordic sense of cultural affinity, develop the Nordic Region as a home market for culture and boost the international standing of Nordic film.

To be nominated for the prize, worth DKK 350.000, the films must have deep roots in Nordic culture, be of high artistic quality, distinguish themselves with artistic originality, and combine and elevate film’s myriad elements into a compelling and holistic work of art. The prize is shared equally by the scriptwriter, director and producer, underlining that film as an art form is the result of close collaboration between these three main contributors.

Previous winners of the film prize are Benedikt Erlingsson for “Of Horses and Men” (2014), Thomas Vinterberg for “The Hunt” (2013), Ruben Östlund for “Play” (2012), Pernilla August for “Beyond” (2011), Thomas Vinterberg for “Submarino” (2010), Lars von Trier for “Antichrist” (2009), Roy Andersson for “You, the Living” (2008), Peter Schønau Fog for “The Art of Crying” (2007), Josef Fares for “Zozo” (2006), Per Fly for “Manslaughter” (2005) and Aki Kaurismäki for “The Man without a Past” (2002).
