After Helsinki and Reykjavik, Oslo is welcoming this Saturday and Sunday a ‘Nordisk Film weekend’ at Filmens hus where screenings of the five film entries will be followed by Q&As. Zentropa CEO Peter Aalbæk Jensen will be on hand to discuss Nymphomaniac, Finnish actor Jari Virma for Concrete Night, Icelandic writer/director Benedikt Erlingsson and producer Fridrik Thor Fridriksson for Of Horses and Men, Norwegian director Eskil Vogt and actor Henrik Rafaelsen for Blind, and director Ruben Östlund and actors Lisa Loven Kongsli and Kristofer Hivju for Force Majeure.
On Sunday 26th Copenhagen’s Grand Teatret will present back to back screenings of the five nominees and on October 28-29, Stockholm’s Kulturhuset will host a ‘Best of Norden’ celebration attended by Ruben Östlund, Fridrik Thor Fridriksson as well as producer Louise Vesth (Nymphomaniac), director Pirjo Honkasalo (Concrete Night) and actress Vera Vitali (Blind). Other Nordic special guests set to take part in different cultural panels include writers Jonas T Bengtsson, Jo Nesbø and the 2014 Nordic Council Literature Danish nominee Ida Jessen.
The winners of the Nordic Council prizes for literature, children and young people’s literature, film, music, and nature and the environment will be announced during the award ceremony at Stockholm’s City Hall on October 29. The live transmission on SVT will be relayed by the other Nordic public broadcasters.
